Speaking the Truth

I know you'll be shocked at how wild a Saturday night I had but here's the scene: Peanut, Swanny Jr and I are at HyVee. Ah, welcome to your 30's Jen...Saturday nights at the grocery store with 2 children. Anyway, we were in need of groceries in a big way, but also in need of dinner. We decide to eat at the deli then get our groceries. As is typical for our ventures out to stores, none of our action began at HyVee until we took a little potty break.

We headed into the largest stall and Peanut took care of business first, then my turn. Here is the conversation that took place.

Peanut: (as I sit) Mommy, your butt is so big...
Me: (interrupting her) Peanut, that's not a very nice thing to say
Peanut: (without missing a beat) Your butt is so medium that you don't even need to use your hands to keep yourself up on the potty!
Me: (unable to deny the truth and secretly thinking she had it right in the first place) I guess you're right Peanut.

If anyone had been in the stall next to us, I'm sure they would have snorted in laughter...

What a riot !!! Jen, your butt is in no way big, but I guess to a little girl who needs to hold on, someone who doesn't probably would be considered big to her. Again, what a riot ! And don't feel bad that's the extent of my excitement on a Saturday night and I don't have two little kids.

The SLP in me loves her quick switch of language concepts in her description. I'm also glad to know I'm not the only one embarrassed by things my children say in public restrooms.
